1) MOQ is three numbers, not one. Ask for the minimum order quantity, the minimum packaging unit (full reel / cut tape / loose), and the surcharge when you buy below it. ICs, connectors and crystals usually start at 1 pc; chip resistors and capacitors follow packaging, often 100 pcs or a full reel. The most useful question is concrete: "I need 200 pcs — can you cut tape, and at what price?"
2) Invoicing: always ask whether the quote includes VAT — the gap is 13% in China. Say up front whether you need a special VAT invoice, and whether freight is included. If a supplier cannot issue an invoice, that tax becomes your cost.
3) Payment: full payment before shipment, 30% deposit plus balance before dispatch, or monthly terms (30/60 days). For a first order, prefer the first two, especially on larger amounts. Be cautious if a new supplier insists on full prepayment but only accepts personal WeChat/Alipay instead of a corporate account.
4) Lead time and acceptance: put "in stock or backorder", "working days from order" and "expected arrival date" in writing, and agree on batch/date codes, factory packaging and third-party testing.
