A student competition team has built a quadrotor drone on an RK3588 and ELF2 development board, combining autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance, gas detection and real-time data visualisation.
The architecture is a multi-sensor fusion design: several cameras for situational awareness, a barometer and IMU for attitude and altitude, gas sensors for leak detection and a wireless link for telemetry.
Environmental monitoring equipment demands accuracy and consistency from every sensor, and prototype stages need several candidate parts at once. Kewei Technology advises stocking two or three interchangeable options per sensor type so a failed evaluation does not stall the schedule.
